Arch Insurance Expands its Leadership Team in Spain
Arch Insurance, a prominent division of the Bermuda-based re/insurer Arch Capital Group, has recently announced strategic appointments to enhance its presence in the Spanish and Portuguese markets. The company has appointed Carmen Cobeta as Head of Casualty, Spain, and Irene Fernandez Franic as Senior Casualty Underwriter.
Both executives will be stationed in Madrid, where they will focus on significantly growing Arch’s casualty portfolio within Spain and Portugal. Their efforts will center around primary, umbrella, and excess liability coverages, particularly targeting sectors such as industrial, manufacturing, and rail.
Cobeta, who comes with over 20 years of extensive experience in the casualty sector, is stepping into Arch Insurance from QBE Europe. She previously held the role of Regional Broker Relationship Manager at QBE Europe and has also served as Liability Portfolio Manager and Senior Casualty Underwriter within the same organization. In addition, Cobeta has experience working in underwriting positions at Chubb.
Franic, similarly seasoned with more than two decades of expertise in the insurance industry, joins from Howden, where she was the Head of International Construction. Her past roles include significant broking and underwriting positions at Aon, Generali, and QBE Europe.
On the occasion of these key appointments, Matthew Brophy, Chief Underwriting Officer at AIEU, commented, “We are thrilled to welcome Carmen and Irene to our expanding European team. Their combined prowess in underwriting and broking, alongside their deep understanding of the local market and extensive networks, make them perfect additions to bolster our standing in the EU and spearhead the development of our Casualty portfolio across the Iberian Peninsula.”
