Canopius Group Expands Paul Hackett’s Role in APAC
Global specialty insurer and reinsurer, Canopius Group, has announced an expansion of Paul Hackett’s responsibilities to include the role of Regional Head of Distribution for Asia Pacific (APAC), starting March 1, 2025. Hackett, who currently leads as the Head of Marine for both APAC and the Middle East & North Africa (MENA), will now also join the APAC Executive Committee.
In his expanded capacity, Hackett will report directly to Soon Keen (SK) Lee, the APAC and MENA Chief Executive Officer, as well as Sam Harrison, Canopius Group’s Chief Underwriting Officer. His new responsibilities involve crafting and implementing Canopius’ APAC distribution strategy while enhancing broker engagement throughout the region.
With over two decades of industry experience, Hackett has built a robust expertise in marine and specialty lines. His extensive knowledge of the specialty insurance market is set to boost Canopius’ ability to offer a comprehensive range of products to clients and brokering partners, facilitating the company’s ongoing growth within APAC and MENA.
Since joining Canopius in 2018, Hackett has been pivotal in advancing the company’s short-tail business lines, overseeing significant growth and effectively expanding the team. Currently, Hackett chairs the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) Nominating Committee and the Lloyd’s Marine Development Group in Singapore. He also actively participates in the IUMI Facts and Figures Committee and the General Insurance Association of Singapore (GIA) Marine Committee in Singapore.
Before his tenure at Canopius, Hackett held senior leadership roles at RSA, Catlin, and Aspen, where he made significant contributions to business development and underwriting across international markets.
