Emma Woolley Steps Up as CEO at Talbot Underwriting
Global insurance giant AIG has announced the appointment of Emma Woolley as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Talbot Underwriting, effective from March 2025. Talbot Underwriting, known for its international insurance and reinsurance operations within the specialist Lloyd’s marketplace, manages Syndicates 1183 and 2019.
Having been acquired by AIG in 2018 through the $5.56 billion purchase of Validus, Talbot is headquartered in London with additional offices in New York and Singapore. It offers a diversified portfolio of services, and through Syndicate 2019, it provides Lloyd’s investors with access to AIG’s Private Client Select portfolio.
Woolley takes over from Chris Rash, who was appointed in 2020 from StarStone Group. Her experience in the industry is extensive, and her leadership is expected to further strengthen Talbot’s position in the market. “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Chief Executive Officer at Talbot Underwriting,” Woolley expressed.
Before her new role, Woolley excelled as Global Head of Marine at AIG for over two years, having joined the company in October 2022 after a successful tenure of four years with Bermuda-based Lancashire Insurance Group as CEO of Lancashire Syndicates Limited.
Earlier in her career, she was Compliance Director with Cathedral Underwriting for more than two years, following a nine-year stint with Canopius Group in roles including Head of Underwriting Controls and Head of Compliance. Woolley’s industry expertise is further highlighted by her roles at reinsurance leader Swiss Re as a contract wordings specialist and at insurance and reinsurance broker BMS Group as wordings manager and broker support.
