Paul Hackett Appointed as Regional Head of Distribution for APAC at Canopius Group
Canopius Group has officially announced the promotion of Paul Hackett to an expanded position, effective March 1. In addition to his current responsibilities as Head of Marine for APAC and MENA and being part of the APAC executive committee, Hackett will now serve as the Regional Head of Distribution for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.
In this newly expanded role, Hackett is tasked with developing and executing the distribution strategy across Canopius APAC, while also enhancing broker engagement in the region. Hackett will report directly to Soon Keen (SK) Lee, the CEO of Canopius APAC and MENA, as well as Sam Harrison, the Chief Underwriting Officer of Canopius.
Hackett comes with over two decades of expertise in the insurance industry, particularly within the specialty insurance sector. Joining Canopius in 2018, he has been an active participant in the IUMI Facts and Figures Committee and the General Insurance Association of Singapore (GIA). His contributions were further recognized when he became an Institute of Banking and Finance Singapore (IBF) Fellow in 2024.
Prior to his tenure at Canopius, Hackett held senior leadership roles at RSA, Catlin, and Aspen. “Paul has been a driving force in our regional success,” commented Lee. “His expanded role is a testament to his leadership and deep understanding of the specialty insurance market. His ability to forge strong broker relationships and execute on strategic growth initiatives will be instrumental as we continue to enhance our presence across APAC and MENA.”
