Everest Group Welcomes John Howard to Board
Global insurance and reinsurance leader, Everest Group, Ltd., has announced the strategic appointment of John Howard as an independent, non-executive member of its Board of Directors, with immediate effect. Howard brings with him a wealth of expertise, having amassed over thirty years of experience in the insurance sector and holding senior roles within major financial service organizations.
Most notably, Howard served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Truist Insurance Holdings, which ranks among the top ten insurance brokerages in the United States. Over two decades, he held various leadership roles across the company and its affiliates. A highlight of his career was spearheading the successful $16 billion leveraged buyout of TIH from Truist Financial Corporation, formerly known as BB&T Corporation.
During his tenure, Howard was instrumental in establishing a robust infrastructure and a strategic operational framework for the brokerage, as well as forming the Board and leadership team. Transitioning from his role as CEO on January 1, 2025, Howard took on the position of Vice Chair of TIH and continues to serve on its Board of Managers.
Howard’s illustrious career also includes leadership positions at Prudential Financial, GE, and Conseco, Inc. He has a strong presence in industry associations and policymaking, currently serving on the Insurance Policy Committee of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, and holds roles with the Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers, The Institutes, and the Maurice R. Greenberg School of Risk Management at St. John’s University.
